Falling Through Another Plane
Falling Through Another Plane' is a series of works, consisting of water mixable oil paints on paper.
Inspired by the Golem like mountains of Montserrat, developed on a residency at Can Serrat, Barcelona.
One of the recurring themes within my work is exploring the questions surrounding our own existence with a place;the paintings being the various outcomes.
These new paper works are pushing this idea to a different level, raising the doubt that such a place exists. My subject is the sense of self in the landscape.
.The spaces created by the seemingly innocent rocks evoke a sense of pleasure and warmth, tempting the viewer into a new place,a timeless space.
Fleshy rock, engulfed by a biblical light creates a subliminal awareness and almost euphoric sense of being.
The size of the works and exaggerated use of scale within the imagery play with the idea of feeling lost and insignificant,
yet enlightened and released within this utopian landscape.
